A Series of fun knowledge and knowledgeable funniness.
Leaning back comfortably in his chair, Dr. Seuss adjusts his hat and puts both feet on the floor. He says firmly, smilingly,
“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells.
Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope.
Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life's realities.”
C’mon, laugh?!
Think nonsense!
But business is serious isn’t it?
Where else did the expression serious business come from?
There are those that think humour negates focus.
That in order to stay focused and on track, we need to move humor aside.
But humour is the icing on the cake, the joy in the dance, the scraper we can use to get the egg of our face. Humour can be the fun in the loss and the pride in the win. Humour makes us bright, and brightens our thinking, moving the clouds out of our vision and showing us more than just a skinny silver lining.
Thinking to himself, Einstein runs his hands through his hair. The thoughts travel a mile a minute… ah, my friend, he says, “Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.”
One of the smartest men in the world pointing out human stupidity?
Are we going to take that?!
Perhaps Dr. Seuss would tell him he’s missing the humour.
Perhaps, the esteemed Albert Einstein would point out that he sees the funny, oh does he ever!
We’re an interesting creature, us humans, with our follies, our differences, our conflicts, our beliefs and our systems. We are caricatures of each other, drawn with a satiric pen that begs humourous responses, and that implores us to have some fun with ourselves and with one another. And to laugh, out loud sometimes, until our stomaches ache, our jaws burn, and the tears run freely.
Humour and knowledge.
We need them both, in our business, in our entire lives… the series begins…Conversations between Dr. Suess and Albert Einstein. Stay tuned for a look at the funniest meets the deepest …and their advice about moving ourselves forward personally and bringing our businesses along with us.
Here's a "fly on the wall" peek at next week’s topic:
The most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is at all comprehensible.
Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955)
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.
Dr. Seuss (1904 - 1991), The Lorax
*Quotes are definitely taken out of context for the purpose of having some fun. All embellishments are the author’s of course! Wouldn’t it have been fun to be a fly on the wall for a conversation like this one!
